Momentive is making a $15 million investment in Electronic Materials Production at its Waterford, New York site to serve rapidly growing high-tech applications.

Over the past five years, Momentive has invested approximately $100 million dollars of capital in growth, technology, productivity, safety and reliability at the Waterford site. This latest investment in new capabilities and production will be operational starting in mid-2021 and is part of a $40 million global investment to drive Electronic Materials growth in advanced aerospace, 5G telecom, automotive electronics and advanced display applications.

While final engineering work is being completed, we plan to add new assets and capabilities that will enable us to appropriately serve rapidly growing applications in the Electronic Materials space. What specifically will the latest $15 Million investment in Waterford be used for?

The $15 million investment in Waterford will be in new capabilities and production, and enhance all aspects of our manufacturing capacity for specialty adhesives, potting compounds and sealants. The major components of this investment will include new production and mixing equipment, on-site temperature-controlled storage, and new equipment for packaging, labeling and testing. The investment will include several small-scale mixers that will be used for new product development and customized blending – allowing us to develop and produce materials specific to each customer’s unique requirements.

“What customer value do you envision for the $15 million investment?”

This investment will greatly enhance our capabilities to produce materials with the properties needed for future customer applications that require low out-gassing, high thermal conductivity, electrical conductivity, high strength, high temperature stability and/or adhesion to special substrates. These additions will allow us to better serve our customers in aerospace, aviation, defense, automotive, specialty electronics and other growing markets in the future.

This investment is in addition to the approximately $100 million in growth, technology, productivity, safety and reliability at the Waterford site, and part of a larger $40 million global initiative.

When will these improvements be operational?

This added capacity is expected to be operational starting in mid-2021.
